A New York girl at heart, fashion designer Mara Hoffman hails from Buffalo and her business is currently based in Manhattan. Having graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York City and studied at Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design in London, Hoffman began designing under own label in 2000. Possessing an unlimited

passion for creativity, the former dancer got her big break in fashion when Sex and the City Costume Designer Patricia Field, already known for being an innovator, stopped Hoffman on the streets of the East Village to compliment her outfit. Subsequently, Field bought all of the first Mara Hoffman label samples and sold them in her shop, House of Field. Not long after, a loyal client base began to take its root.

The Mara Hoffman line, which encompasses everything from dresses, leggings and blouses to coats, knits, wovens and scarves, has evolved from hand-dyed silhouettes to her current collection, which concentrates heavily on original silk prints. Hoffman recurrently draws inspiration from nature and fantasy, often finding creativity from her own travels around

the world. Hoffman shows her Ready-to-Wear collections during New York Fashion week.

In 2008, Mara Hoffman launched her first Swim collection, which was debuted as part of her Spring/Summer 2009 runway show during New York Fashion Week. The collection consists of playful bikinis, sexy one-pieces, dashiki cover-ups and casual, multi-functional dresses, all in Hoffman’s signature prints and bold colors. The Mara Hoffman Swim collections are now shown on the runway during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami.

Hoffman’s colorful designs have garnered recognition among celebrities such as Blake Lively, Ashley Tisdale, Helena Christensen, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, Drew Barrymore, Ginnifer Goodwin, Kerry Washington, Whitney Port, Lauren Conrad, Paula Patton, LeAnn Rimes, Kim, Kourtney & Khloe Kardashian and more. The collections are currently available through top retailers worldwide, including Intermix, Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Planet Blue, Bleu, Stanley Korshak, Shop Bop, Revolve Clothing, Net-A-Porter and many more.
